2009 IRA Catch Up

The 2009 IRA catch up contribution amount is $1,000. This is the same as the 2008 IRA catch up amount. You are eligible to make a 2009 IRA catch up contribution if you are 50 years or older in 2009.

This will make your 2009 IRA maximum contribution limit to total $6,000 if you are at least 50 years old. The 2009 IRA catchup provision is a great way to save for retirement particularly if you are not covered by a 401k plan at work and you are or will be 50 years old in 2009.
